Let's be honest, no one can pull off a masculine outfit as elegantly as a french girl. Mélanie Laurent in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds is living in a war-torn Paris and the colours of her clothes blend so well with the palette of the setting. Rusty reds, greens and ochras create this sophisticated/artistic effect without being dull and even though they're autumnal, they seem the perfect choice for this current bipolar spring here in the UK. Last - but obviously not least - outfit of the film is a long red dress, along with the essential red lipstick, the ideal combination for the girl who nevertheless raises hell. Is there a better source of inspiration than the image of a french girl straight from the 40s?
